Reality Network’s Number 1 Guy Nomination:

Rob Rob Rob Schulte A.K.A. Vanderpump Robs! Rob is a prolific producer of podcasts, always on the prowl for a good story of pop culture…

He runs alone but often partners with other podcast hosts to boost the synergy, as is all about the indie voice and yet — he is getting tons of “mainstream media” coverage lately! See the gossip and photo in the news of him and Brittany Cartwright? O.K. seriously, does he look kinda like Beau Clark? He does.

And Rob has produced for Team Coco, VICE, SiriusXM, and more!

We have questions and Robs has answers:

How do you do it? Weekly, Daily, Monthly?
Everyday I’m thinking of new and fun episodes to make, booking guests, editing episodes and creating fun outlines. There's always new connections to make and episodes to produce…

How much time does it take to decide, promote, host and publish?
From pitch to publish, every episode I make takes about 2-3 weeks. Lots of work for something that’s free to listen to…have I mentioned you can support Vanderpump Robs at Patreon.com/vanderpumprobs

How many podcasts have you done?
I started working in podcast production back in 2015, since then I’ve worked on over 50 different shows. Some of my highlights are “Literally with Rob Lowe”, “Madrigal at the Movies”, and “Design Tangents”.

What made you start this?
I graduated college into the 2008 recession, with a degree in theater and film. I was circling the drain in a small town working at bars and coffee shops. One day I walked into the library, luckily this library had just built a recording studio that no one was using. The head of the studio took me under his wing and taught me how to record and edit. I fell in love with podcasting immediately, and a few months later I sold my car and moved to Brooklyn. From there I hustled my ass off, working as a freelance podcast producer until I landed a solid gig.

Do you have a partner? Sponsors?
I work with great people on all my shows, but in terms of production, I’m a solo worker. I’m proud to have “Vanderpump Robs” be a part of the Sonar network based out of Toronto. Sonar is a network that prides itself on cultivating great comedic voices and opportunities!

Who was your first guest?
My first guest on “Vanderpump Robs” was the wonderful Lea Palmieri!

Who was your fave guest?
It’s hard to choose a favorite, but I will say that when Peter Madrigal agreed to be a guest it was a significant moment.

What is your ultimate goal?
My ultimate goal is to one day cultivate a supportive and booming Patreon audience based off the success of “Vanderpump Robs”!

Does podcasting lead to something bigger/better/different or is it your end goal to run and host podcasts for yourself and others?
I would love to one day create a television show based off the success of my experience hustling in the freelance world.

What if VPR ends? Will you change your program/name/status? Perhaps “Reality Robs” is in the cards or…?
I have thought about this a lot and slowly started my pivot, which is why the subtitle of my show is now “a podcast about Hollywood”. It’s a wink to the world of all the tv and movies created by the glitz and glam of Hollywoodland. Hey maybe I should start “Reality Robs” on the Reality Network!!

How did you become friends with Peter Madrigal? Tell us the story…
Peter and I met during lockdown, he was doing daily Instagram lives and creating social happy hours for folks to connect. He and I talked podcasts and movies which then lead to Peter becoming a friend. We quickly started a podcast about film called “Madrigal at the Movies” which ran its course, but that’s didn’t stop Peter and I from collaborating. We did Spotify Live shows, and have even been flown to Toronto to do a live podcast at a Comic Book Convention last year. You never know what’s gonna happen when Peter and Rob put their mind to something! 😂

…Rob’s is clearly onto something and his passion for his podcasting craft is inspiring! Be sure to stay tuned to see what “Reality Robs” is up to next, we sure will be!
